Kemi Ajiboye of Crystal Shine Skin Clinic’s mission to fix Nigeria’s bleaching menace

The name Crystal Shine struck a nice note with me. It reminded me of porcelain clear skin, or in my case, more like ebony wood or onyx. What I am saying is the name inspired thoughts of naturally beautiful skin. So when I got to the Opebi office of Crystal shine beauty care I knew I was going to learn more about skin than I had ever known. I mean, you don’t give your outfit that kind of name without knowing what you are doing, do you? My conversation with Mrs. Oluwakemi Ajiboye, who is the Founder and CEO of Crystal Shine was quite the eye-opener. The mother of three daughters has extensive experience in skin care therapy. Armed with a first degree in Biochemistry and post graduate degrees in Aesthetic Medicine, Cosmetic Chemistry, ...

Is VConnect really for you?

VConnect has been in the Nigerian tech/business scene for a little over six years now. In this time, it has gone from trawling the streets of Lagos getting addresses of businesses to becoming the number 1 platform for business discovery and engagement. Interestingly, I still get asked “what does VConnect do?”. For users, VConnect makes it easy for you to find services, I mean very easy. I recently tried to get an apartment at Ago Palace way, the apartment is quite bare, so I knew I’ll be needing a lot of carpentry work ( I like good looking shelves), and since I wasn’t interested in lugging heavy furniture from Surulere to Ago Palace I knew I had to get a carpenter at Ago Palace. So off to vconnect.com I went to find nearby carpenters, ...

VConnect is not only giving small businesses websites, they get them to build it themselves!

In my line of work, I get to hang out with software developers often. A recurring joke is me pretending I know whether what is on their screen is C# (C-Sharp) or JavaScript. So the idea of creating a website by myself seems as far-fetched as me becoming an astronaut (really, if you know about any astronaut openings, let me know). When the guys in the product team talked about creating DIY (Do-It-Yourself) websites that would help small business owners customise their websites as they wish, I was skeptical as to how doable it would be. Fast forward to launch fo VConnect sites and I got to play around with the process, and it was as simple as promised. All you have to do is drag and drop images into the templates provided and ...

Why an up-to-date profile on VConnect can get you customers

Businesses are making connections every day on VConnect, for example, Kemi Robbin of Addurrah Creations talks about receiving at least one enquiry a day from VConnect. Get more customers by staying active on VConnect

First, a short story... Adeolu registered his laundry business on VConnect in April 2015, he figured since he didn’t have a lot of money to advertise, he could as well leverage having an online presence. He was right, with a Vconnect profile he has been able to get enquiries from customers around his location and beyond. However, lately he hasn’t been getting as many enquiries as he used to, the problem according to his VConnect customer relationship manager, was that he wasn’t getting as many enquiries and leads as he used to because he no longer as active as he used to be on VConnect. Ah! So that’s where the problem was. He has been a little too busy lately to check his business profile on VConnect and that has dropped his profile popularity on VConnect.

Vinod Kaurani of Mayfair Travels on the secret to staying relevant as a Nigerian SME

Vinod Kaurani has been in Nigeria for as about as long as I have been alive and I have been around for a fair bit of time. With a primary school education in Ibadan, secondary school and tertiary education in India and the UK respectively, Vinod, the Managing Director of Mayfair Travels Nigeria Ltd has been involved in business in Nigeria for over three decades.
