Considering how difficult it can be getting out of bed sometimes, the thought of having tasks done before breakfast and heading out to work can seem pretty daunting.

Successful people have found ways to do certain things early in the morning before breakfast, paving the way for a productive day ahead.

You too can start imbibing some of these habits to help improve your day. Here are six things successful people do before breakfast.

1. Wake up early

According to a poll by  Laura Vanderkam, a time-management expert out of 20 executives, 90% said they wake up before 6 a.m. on weekdays.

PepsiCo CEO Indra Nooyi, for example, wakes at 4 a.m. and is in the office no later than 7 a.m.

Meanwhile, Disney CEO Bob Iger gets up at 4:30 to read, and Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey is up at 5:30 to jog.

For a more productive day, get up early.

2. Exercise

Virgin’s Richard Branson, Apple’s Tim Cook, and Disney’s Bob Iger all wake up well before 6:00 a.m. to exercise.  Exercising morning ensures makes sure you get the feel-good hormones to start your day, improving your self-control and energy levels throughout the day.

3. Plan ahead
With a clear plan of action ahead for the day, successful people can avoid distractions and focus on the important stuff for the day. A way to do this is to make a not-to-do list..

4. Meditate

Stanford University researcher Emma Seppälä says meditation allows people to take charge of their nervous system and emotions, helping to regulate emotions in the brain. The advantage gives is that you have better clarity to make rational business decisions

5. Write down what they’re grateful for.

Being thankful for what you have provides better insight towards realising what is really important.

This way successful people see the bigger picture, knowing what challenges would matter in the long run.

6. Work on a top-priority project.

For most people, mornings are the most productive and energetic time of the day. This is why early mornings are best used to tackle the most important tasks for the day. This way you can solve a problem when the brain is properly rested and firing on all cylinders.
